WHAT MAKES THIS FLOOR UNIQUE:

Within the confines of a larger 3,000-square-foot project in a three-story house, Mariusz Karnas of H&M Flooring Design embarked on a journey to create something extraordinary – a gift for a friend that would stand as a testament to craftsmanship and creativity.

With most of the floor laid, a 150-square-foot entry foyer remained, leading to a spacious home office. Given free rein to choose a design, Mariusz drew inspiration from his experiences and the desire to create something unique.

Inspired by patterns and memories of a stone and tile combination, he envisioned a similar concept with wood.

With his friend’s trust in his vision, Mariusz set out to bring his ideas to life. The result? An irregular basketweave pattern unlike any other, where character-grade white oak pieces are curved instead of straight, adding a touch of whimsy to the space.

Every piece was cut by hand, with Mariusz opting for only a jig saw and oscillating belt sander to achieve precision. Careful attention was paid to the character distribution in the wood, ensuring a balanced appearance.

The finishing touch – a natural look achieved with three coats of Loba Invisible finish – enhances the wood’s inherent beauty, providing the perfect complement to the exquisite design.
