“What is your all-time favorite tool?”

Pretty much everyone on my team said the Bona Power Drives that we have. For the most part, it could take the place of multiple machines. We use the belt machines for rough cuts only, and then it’s Power Drive from then on. It reduces the edging needed, thus saving edger paper and time, takes over doing final cuts instead of the belt machine, and for the most part, replaces the buffer for final buffing and inter-coat abrasions with the correct adaptor. So, we’d say the Power Drive for its versatility and ability to flatten the floors to perfection.

The multi-tool has been up there for a long time. You can cut things without worrying about blowing something up. If I make two boards too close together and angles are off, but they are really close, I can run the multi-tool down the edge of it and it cuts a parallel between the two and then you just butt them together. If the angle isn’t just quite right, I can run the multi-tool down it and get the angle perfect. Although, I tend to break them because I use them for so many things. It is such a versatile tool. I don’t have to worry about hurting myself, especially with the finer detailed stuff.

The hand scraper. You can do board replacements and hand scrape a board in the middle of the floor to blend it in and you have to hand sand afterward to get out the scraper marks. Also, making sure those corners are cut down flat to match what you have already sanded into the floor. It is a unique tool; I can use it for all different types of purposes for shaving wood. It almost is like the old school wood planer, but it is hand held and you can scrape with it.
