WHAT MAKES THIS FLOOR UNIQUE:
This floor contains 22 species of wood and brass inlays, and was installed in a private residence in Belgium.
The existing glazed ceramic tiles were first treated with hydrochloric acid, and then a layer of adhesive was applied and the mosaic oak subfloor was glued down. The āMarquetterie Rosas,ā which was prepared by Filip Redant at his workplace and all sawn by hand, was then glued and nailed on top. All special types of wood were from Redantās old stock.
All pieces are solid wood with a thickness of 9 mm at subfloor; the oak mosaic thickness is 8 mm.
