Emmet Pryor “Buck” Vaughn of Emmet Vaughn Lumber Company passed away Saturday, March 24. He was a graduate of Tennessee Military Academy and The University of Tennessee and served in the U.S. Army as an officer with the famous 82 Airborne Paratroopers.
After leaving the military he spent a few years as sales manager with US Plywood Company in Columbia, South Carolina but returned home to Knoxville to take over the operation of Emmet Vaughn Lumber Company which his father and mother had started in 1956. Buck was CEO & Chairman of the Board of Emmet Vaughn Lumber Company until the company closed in August 2016.
During his years in the lumber industry he served on the Board of Directors of the National Hardwood Lumber Association and was President of the Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Incorporated.
