The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) is the leading trade association representing the hardwood flooring industry. We have an amazing opportunity for an experienced Leader of Technical Services to play a critical leadership role in advancing NWFA’s mission within the hardwood flooring industry.

Requirements for our Leader of Technical Services:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with unfinished and pre-finished wood floor installation and sand and finishing required;
- Strong technical expertise and the ability to clearly explain technical subjects.
- 3+ years experience coaching and leading a team
- Bachelor’s degree preferred;
- NWFA Certified Professional designations required;
- Strong public speaking and teaching ability required;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Responsibilities for our Leader of Technical Services:
- Serving as Subject Matter Expert for all external and internal communications related to the wood flooring industry; Representing NWFA by speaking at industry events, conferences, and trade shows;
- Reviewing and updating technical publications, training manuals, and resources to ensure accuracy and alignment with industry best practices;
- Serving as technical editor for Hardwood Floors Magazine and act as the technical spokesperson to the media;
- Coaching and developing team members to ensure engagement and retention of all staff members;
- Monitoring individual goals and coaching team members to achieve results;
- Addressing performance and behavior issues within the team;
- Ensuring resources, timelines and expectations of direct reports and 3rd party technical resources align with business needs to deliver exceptional results;
- Providing technical support through the member technical call support line;
- Overseeing and expanding NWFA Manufacturer Certified Professional programs (NWFA/NOFMA Factory Finished/Unfinished Certification, RPP and Refinishable Program);
- Tracking and analyzing short-term and long-term key performance indicators (KPIs) for technical services programs;
- Developing key industry partnerships to advance the organization’s mission and secure support/materials for training events and Expo;
- Reviewing all manufacturer mill inspection reports for the NWFA/NOFMA certification program;
- Updating NWFA/NOFMA standards and represent NWFA on standards committees (e.g., ANSI/HPVA EF 2020, UL PCR Part B: Flooring).
