WHAT MAKES THIS FLOOR UNIQUE:

Woodwright Hardwood Floors in Dallas, Texas, has secured the 2025 NWFA Manufacturer Spotlight award for a project in a Dallas high-rise residential building. Spanning 2,814 square feet, this glue-down engineered floor features 5/8ā€ x 7ā€ x 35ā€ herringbone planks of livesawn American white oak, a pattern that complements the elegance of 25-foot-tall glass windows. The commercial architect’s precise vision required thorough collaboration on color and layout, ensuring every detail met their expectations.

Serving as both manufacturer and installer, Woodwright prefinished the wood at their shop, achieving a subtle cerused look through a medium wire-brushed texture, cambered edges, and a specially blended glaze. A custom stain, primer, sealer, aluminum oxide coat, and four-sheen urethane topcoat were UV line-finished, ensuring durability and a polished sheen. The installation, spanning 19 days, demanded precision, particularly around large metal grates embedded along the windows, a challenge that required careful navigation.

The team incorporated inlaid metal vents and a perimeter border, adding sophistication to the herringbone design, which blends modern luxury with timeless craftsmanship. Woodwright’s dual role ensured a cohesive process, from crafting the planks to installing them with accuracy, fully realizing the architect’s vision. This project underscores the company’s ability to combine manufacturing expertise with skilled installation, creating a floor that enhances the high-rise’s aesthetic and functionality.
