According to news reports, Allegheny Wood Products Inc. (AWP) closed on Friday, February 23. The hardwood producer operated several locations around the state of West Virginia.
WOWK-TV cites state economic development officials as saying 850 workers are impacted by AWP’s closure, and that the owner of AWP referenced market conditions as one of the reasons behind the closure. The state is mobilizing a team to help the employees find jobs and apply for unemployment benefits.
