What’s Happening at NWFA: August Edition

Are you looking to get more involved in the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA)? Would you like to brush up your skills via an online class or in-person training? Below is a snapshot of some of the opportunities available from the NWFA in August 2023.

  • Various Dates in August: Gain an edge in an increasingly competitive market by completing a free one-time registration for all NWFA Tech Talk Tuesday, Webinar Wednesday, and Product Theater Thursday webinars. This month, join us for online sessions with Tools4Flooring, MP Global, Sika, and Footprints Floors. Pre-register here.
  • August 8-10: Intermediate Installation + CP Testing | Middle TN Lumber Co. – Clarksville, TN. Includes in-depth training on general equipment maintenance, sanding multiple flooring types/species, unfinished/factory finished, and engineered/multidirectional/parquet flooring. Also includes floor flattening methods, minimizing the scratch patterns and efficient use of the professional sanding equipment. On the finishing side, the attendee will learn about and practice with stain application, sealers, natural oils, waxes, colorants, reactive conditioners, finish application, scraping, recoats and final coat application, repairs, and board replacement.   • August 29-31: Intermediate Sand and Finish + CP Testing | Loba-Wakol – Wadesboro, NC. Includes in-depth training on general equipment maintenance, sanding multiple flooring types/species, unfinished/factory finished, and engineered/multidirectional/parquet flooring.   • August 31: Subfloor Prep and Moisture Testing Workshop (Bilingual) | Derr Flooring Co. – Herndon, VA. A one-day in-person course providing an in-depth view of moisture meters, moisture testing tools, and ASTM testing methods. Includes how to use different tools, assessing moisture content, dealing with wood and substrate materials, and claims. Also provides an in-depth view of identifying and assessing wood substrate materials, preparation, installation methods over them, and claims. Includes testing for flatness, addressing floors that don’t meet NWFA or manufacturer tolerances, and assessing/addressing high spots, low spots and unstable subflooring systems. Read more.
  • August 31: Deadline to Update Company Info in Hardwood Floors Magazine’s 2024 NWFA Industry Guide. NWFA members must update company info, product listings, and service areas by August 31st to have it included in the upcoming Industry Guide.
