This Wood Floor of the Year winner in the Manufacturer Spotlight category began when Peachey Hardwood Flooring and one of its dealers, Textures Nashville, were approached to install flooring in a few newly constructed homes for the Nashville Parade of Homes.
“This particular home had an open, airy floor plan that leads to the outdoors, and this floor set the foundation for the rest of the home. The designer wanted the floor to be one of the first details chosen so that the proper feel could be created for the homeowner,” explains Don Coleman, president of Peachey Hardwood Flooring.
To accomplish that feel, designers requested that one installation area feature planks in a straight-lay format and another area feature the same flooring in a herringbone pattern.
“The installation ended up featuring a mixture of 5” planks and a 3” x 24” herringbone pattern to make the main focal rooms stand out,” says Coleman. “To accomplish this, the designer selected character grade white oak.”
Another thing that made this Wood Floor of the Year stand out was its creamy grey tone in the custom stain that worked to pull the room together and create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.
“The flooring is timeless, warm, and inviting, but I think what set the floor apart from others is the custom stain and matte finish we created,” explains Coleman. “This project was a great showcase for us and our capabilities, and we are honored to be recognized by the NWFA as a Wood Floor of the Year winner.”
