Only two years after the factory’s modernization and a 15 million euros investment, hardwood company Danzer announced plans to shut down its plant in Souvans, France. The production site, which specializes in sliced oak wear layers for engineered hardwood flooring, faces a decline in demand for veneer and a challenging raw material supply.
“The ambitious goals of our investment plan could not be realized. After several attempts, we now understand that the Souvans plant cannot operate economically at this location,” says Danzer CEO Hans-Joachim Danzer, emphasizing that “the 95 employees of Danzer France will of course be supported by the company in cooperation with the local administration.”
