Allbirds Launches New Line of Shoes Made from Trees

According to Wired, footwear maker Allbirds recently launched a new shoe utilizing a unique new material—a textile spun from eucalyptus fiber.

Using wood pulp derived from eucalyptus trees, the manufacturer spins the material into a fiber and knits it into a mesh fabric that feels like a cotton-polyester blend. The process requires just five percent of the water needed to produce a typical pair of shoes, and the trees themselves are sustainably harvested.
