The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) and Middle Tennessee Lumber partnered to host an event October 6, 2017 in celebration of Manufacturing Day.
Manufacturing Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing during which manufacturers invite members of their communities to their facilities in an effort to educate them about career opportunities and to improve public perceptions about jobs in manufacturing.
More than 75 students and teachers from four Burns, Tennessee-area high schools came to participate in the fun and educational experience. Students were given a tour of Middle Tennessee Lumberās operation, which included the saw mill, drying yard, kilns, grading line, and flooring mill.
Students also got hands-on exposure with machinery and techniques commonly used by wood flooring installers, including a pneumatic nail gun, a sanding machine, a buffer, and staining.
3M and Louisiana Pacific helped make this event possible by donating product and DuraSeal and Primatech helped by providing representatives.
