Real Antique Wood will host its first annual Demonstration Day on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 7am-3pm. Owner Gary Horvath will lead tours of the family-owned sawmill where he and his crew transform antique barn wood reclaimed from America’s heartland into an amazing array of furniture, accent pieces, and flooring.
Founded in 2011, Real Antique Wood has grown quickly into a full service mill with over one-million board feet of reclaimed barn wood in their inventory. Each barn that Gary and his crew take down is meticulously deconstructed on-site, carefully packed up, and trucked back to the mill in Irvington.
“We’re usually taking down antique barns in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York State, sometimes New Jersey.” Horvath said, “Once we get the reclaimed wood back to the mill we begin an exhaustive process of removing all the nails, kiln drying the material and then running it through the mill where it is transformed into all the beautiful pieces you see in our showroom.”
“Demonstration Day is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time,ā said RAW General Manager Anthony Saraceno. “It gives us a chance to invite the community inside our mill to see some of the cool stuff we’ve been constructing from 100% reclaimed barn wood.”
Safety goggles and ear protection will be provided for the mill tour and blacksmith Lisa Lofdahl from LL Metalworks will be set up onsite with her portable blacksmith forge. Refreshments will be served and fireplace mantels will be on sale up to 25% off. Also, 10% of the total sales for the day will be donated to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ to assist dogs including those affected by the recent hurricanes.
Lisa and Gary this seems like it should be great fun. Your mill is an amazing place to visit.
Thanks Kathleen!!!
