According to his obituary, Collison graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in Nebraska and then attended Kansas State University for an animal nutrition degree. In 1997, he orchestrated the beginning of MP Global Products, an underlayment manufacturing company, where he served as founder and president. He enjoyed his work, his ranch, playing ping pong, card games, and spending time with his family.
Reid Borgman, chief operating officer of MP Global, stated: “Al was more than a founder, he was a driving force behind MP Global and a true pioneer in the underlayment industry. More than that, he built a company grounded in hard work, innovation, and people. For over 29 years his vision shaped not just products, but the lives, careers, and the community around him. That legacy will carry on.”
Collison is survived by his wife, Jacque; five children; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services were held on May 4, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce, Nebraska. The family asks that memorials be made to Zion Lutheran Church or School, Faith Health Hospital, or the family for a later designation.
Condolences may be expressed to the family here.
