We’re seeking an experienced, process-improvement-minded Mill Shop Manager to lead day-to-day operations in our Howard, PA mill shop. You’ll be responsible for the full milling operation- from incoming reclaimed lumber to finished, ready-to-ship product- while building a safer, more efficient, and more consistent shop floor. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows wood, knows machinery, and knows how to get the best out of a team.
What You’ll Do
• Direct and manage all mill shop operations including planing, straight-line ripping, grading, sorting, brushing, end matching and finish-milling of reclaimed lumber
• Own overall responsibility for shop safety, product quality, and on-time production
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput, reduce waste, and improve consistency across batches of reclaimed material
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise mill shop staff; build a culture of accountability and craftsmanship
• Establish and track KPIs for production, quality, and efficiency, and report on shop performance to ownership
• Manage inventory flow from the yard to the mill to finished goods, coordinating closely with sales and yard staff
• Enforce and continuously improve safety protocols and standards on the shop floor
• Oversee preventive maintenance and repair of mill shop equipment to minimize downtime
• Own and execute lock out/tag out policies and procedures and track compliance

• Maintain quality control standards that protect the character and patina our customers expect from authentic reclaimed material
What We’re Looking For
• 5+ years of experience in a mill, sawmill, or wood shop management/supervisory role (hardwood flooring, or millwork experience REQUIRED)
• Experience with reclaimed lumber (PREFERRED)
• Proven hands-on knowledge of milling equipment — resaws, planers, straight-line rip saws, moulders, and kiln operations
• A genuine continuous-improvement mindset: someone who looks at a process and asks “how can this run better?” (REQUIRED)
• Lean Manufacturing Certification (PREFERRED)
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and hold a diverse shop team accountable • Strong understanding of shop safety standards and a track record of enforcing them • Comfortable with basic reporting and production tracking (Excel/Office 365) • Physically able to work in a mill environment and be on the shop floor daily • Appreciation for the craftsmanship and history behind reclaimed wood Why Antique Building Solutions
