AkzoNobel’s 2027 Color of the Year is Soulful Sage™, an ethereal, soft, and silvery green. Soulful Sage perfectly captures the mood for 2027, according to the results of the company’s annual trend research.
“Our 2027 Color of the Year is all about creating lighter spaces for a lighter life,” explains Heleen van Gent, creative director of AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Center. “Many people are feeling weighed down by world events and overloaded with information. We want to offer consumers a way to create lighter environment so they can feel that weight lifted off their shoulders.”
She adds that the three color stories – Glow, Light, and Lift – can help consumers feel brighter in subtly different ways. “Glow is focused on earth tones to create a warm space, Light combines quiet, pale tones and darker shades for more of a healing space, while Lift features positive tones that evoke the joy of an inspiring space. And at the center of it all is Soulful Sage – the ultimate versatile green.”
All the colors, textures, and special effects in the collection have been designed to light up the senses in a wide range of markets. Along with decorative paints, inspirational palettes have also been created for the aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, metal furniture, lighting, cabinetry, flooring, building products, and architecture markets.
