Seen at NWFA Schools: 2025 Precision Patterns: Medallions & Parquetry
This two-day in-person course is designed for experienced wood floor professionals and was led by Lenny Hall, NWFA Regional Instructor and owner of Endurance Floor Company. Attendees learned how to produce a variety of medallion styles by hand, including symmetry of medallions, mosaics, and other decorative elements that become the focal point of the flooring design. They also created parquet patterns by hand, including developing and utilizing sleds and jigs, and installing them in any application.

“When you do the school, you see it’s basic math once you get the medallions laid out. It’s not near as intimidating as it was before going to that school,” says Lott. “Take the classes because if you are working every day and you aren’t learning something every day, you’re losing.”
For Brent Walter of the Flooring Guy in Durango, Colorado, the return on investment surfaced quickly. Soon after the school there was a delay in receiving premade medallions for a job, so he ended up making them in his shop instead.

Walter adds that if it wasn’t for what he learned in the class, the client would have reversed charges on his floor material.
“A big thanks goes to NWFA,” he says. “It was truly remarkable how everything fell into place.”
