NWFA Recognizes 2025 Service Award Honorees

The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) was founded as an organization by the industry, for the industry. Our organization thrives due to the generous support of volunteer instructors, committee members, board members, and numerous other volunteers. To thank those members who go above and beyond, NWFA recognizes volunteers with Service Awards. The following recipients were recognized at the Wood Flooring Expo this past April in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ambassador Award

Jorge Perez, Epic Hardwood Floors

The Ambassador Award recognizes individuals who have made significant technical skills contributions to the wood flooring industry through volunteering at training events or Expo, contributing content through Hardwood Floors magazine, donating products, or other contributions to the advancement of NWFA’s members.

Jorge Perez has spent more than 20 years in the wood flooring industry, not just as a skilled professional but as a mentor and advocate. As the owner of Epic Hardwood Floors in Tacoma, Washington, Perez has been a volunteer instructor for NWF

A, leading installation and sand classes, mentoring students, and advocating for education. He has served as an NWFA Ambassador for seven years, always promoting the value of learning and community in our industry. His passion for education makes a real impact, inspiring others to get involved and helping grow the next generation of professionals.

Community Service Award

Ashley and Jeff Do Carmo, Brown Oaks Flooring

The NWFA Community Service Award recognizes members who use their skills to make a difference in their communities. This year’s recipient, Brown Oaks Flooring, has shown incredible dedication to giving back.

Brown Oaks Flooring of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, participated in a project that embodies the spirit of service, working with Operation Song, a group that helps veterans heal through music. Partnering with The Design Network’s Hometown Heroes, the Brown Oaks Flooring team donated their labor to install a new hardwood floor for their space.

Hall of Fame

Neil Moss & Sprigg Lynn, Universal Floors Inc.

The NWFA Hall of Fame Award recognizes and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the wood flooring industry through innovation, service, and leadership. During the NWFA’s 40-year history, just 23 individuals have been recognized with this award.

Neil Moss

Neil Moss has been involved in the wood flooring industry for more than 50 years and has been part of the NWFA since its inception. He was instrumental in the development of the NWFA installation guidelines and technical publications, as well as the organization’s certification program. Moss served on both NWFA committees and the NWFA Board of Directors, and has dedicated hundreds of hours training wood flooring professionals throughout the country. He is an NWFA Certified Installation Professional, Sand and Finish Professional, and Wood Flooring Inspector, holds numerous NWFA degrees, and received the NWFA Industry Leadership Award in 2008.

Sprigg Lynn is a third-generation wood flooring professional, whose sons, South and Jackson, are continuing the family legacy. He specializes in historic renovations on high-profile projects including the White House, U.S. Capitol building, and preparing Washington National Cathedral for the funeral of United States President Jimmy Carter. Lynn regularly invites peers from across the country to join him on historic jobsites such as the vice president’s house, the Supreme Court, and Camp David. He has served on the NWFA Board of Directors, the NWFA Education and Research Foundation Board of Directors, and numerous NWFA committees. He is an NWFA Certified Installation Professional, Sand and Finish Professional, holds numerous NWFA degrees, and has won multiple NWFA Wood Floor of the Year awards.

Vanguard Award

Steven Skutelsky, PID Floors

The Vanguard Industry Leadership Award recognizes a member of NWFA who has made significant contributions to the NWFA and wood flooring industry through volunteerism, service, and leadership. Steven Skutelsky, managing partner at PID Floors in New York, has done exactly that.

Skutelsky’s passion for real wood flooring goes beyond selling products—he is helping shape the way the next generation of architects and designers think about wood. Through his outreach efforts, he has introduced hundreds of new advocates to the industry. He has spearheaded coursework in the greater New York market, ensuring that architects understand the beauty and long-term value of real wood flooring. By educating those who specify materials for future projects, Skutelsky is strengthening the industry from the ground up.
