The basketball courts that Junckers created for the 2024 Paris Olympics are now binge-worthy. Netflix’s new documentary, “Court of Gold,” has the sports floors front and center as the series follows Olympic Men’s Basketball’s top medal contenders.

Netflix describes the six-episode series as follows: “Witness the drama unfold in ‘Court of Gold’ with an unfiltered look at Team USA, France, Serbia, and Canada as they compete for gold, highlighting the intense competition as international basketball has caught up to the U.S.”

Junckers, a National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) member, manufactured and installed the floors on which all the action takes place. For the project, they used Junckers’ Pro Complete 44 Portable Sports Floor system, consisting of 7/8″ (22 mm) solid hardwood (press-dried beech) strips preassembled into lightweight, hand-carried panels. The company provided two tournament floors and four warm-up courts, totaling just over 34,500 square feet. The finish was Junckers HP800 Sport, a polyurethane lacquer approved and officially certified by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

Though those specifics of the sports floors are not discussed in the documentary, Thomas Bendixen, CEO of Junckers, says it was a proud moment to see their floors, first at the Olympics and now on Netflix.

“When you’re in the middle of it, you don’t really grasp just how massive the Olympic basketball tournament is or the scale of the event itself,” he explains. “The overwhelming interest and post-event exposure we’ve received is truly priceless. The Olympics put us on a global platform like no other, and the Netflix documentary has only amplified that momentum, reinforcing our position as leaders in high-performance hardwood sports flooring.”

Knowing that Junckers played a role in shaping the recent history of the Olympics and USA Basketball is something Bendixen says reinforces everything the company stands for.

“Reflecting on our Olympic experience, I can say it was unlike any other international tournament. The event demanded a higher level of coordination with a broad array of stakeholders—from organizers and venue management to international committees—and required seamless logistics across multiple simultaneous events,” says Bendixen. “Stepping back and watching the documentary, you truly appreciate the magnitude of the effort.”

FIBA has continued its collaboration with Junckers as the official technical supplier for another four years. Up next, Bendixen is looking forward to building on their momentum at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
