Ryan Jazdewski has been in the flooring industry for more than 14 years and started his own company, Jazz Custom Wood Flooring, in 2021. Ryan focused on hardwood flooring specifically after attending NWFA classes, where he says the excitement and energy for wood flooring is contagious. He is a NWFA Certified Installer, Sand and Finisher, and Inspector.Ā
What made you decide to focus on wood flooring?Ā I worked with carpeting and ceramic tile but became more interested in hardwood after attending a sand and finish training with Bona. I found hardwood flooringās natural beauty provided an instant gratification after completing a job.Ā I continued my education by attending the NWFA Intermediate Install and Sand & Finish courses. NWFA classes by far were the most beneficial courses I have participated in.Ā I left with new skills (and new friends) after every course.
Why did you decide to become a NWFA Inspector?Ā Ā Brett Miller inspired me to pursue my Inspector Certification after sharing his own journey in the industry.Ā Inspector School was a next level experience.Ā I was able to meet others in the industry who were just as committed to wood flooring as I was, and our instructor, Kjell Nymark, made the week fun and engaging, so much so I was disappointed when the week was over!
What benefits do you believe the Inspector Certification will give you?Ā The economy is always changing and slow times can be difficult.Ā Having this certification opens up other opportunities for me outside of install and sand/finish.Ā It provides me with an even greater sense of job security for my future.
