What’s Happening at NWFA: November Edition

Are you looking to get more involved in the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA)? Would you like to brush up your skills via an online class or in-person training? Below is a snapshot of some of the opportunities available from the NWFA in November 2024.

  • October 28-November 8: NERF Auction. End the year on a high note with the NWFA Education & Research Foundation (NERF) Online Auction happening October 28 to November 8. Get ready to experience fantastic end-of-year specials and prizes, all while supporting next year’s NWFA training initiatives and scholarship programs. Read more.
  • November 5-7: Advanced Finish | NWFA – St. Charles, MO. A three-day course designed for experienced wood flooring professionals. Includes the proper preparation of the wood floor to achieve the desired end-result look, experimenting with finishing techniques using unique application methods /products such as reactive conditioners, bleaches, dyes, oils, pigments, and other colorants in conjunction with a multitude of finish systems to create a pallet of styles/looks within the same floors.   • November 12-15: Intermediate Sand & Finish + CP Testing | Loba-Wakol LLC – Wadesboro, NC. A three-day in-person intermediate level course for those with wood flooring experience. Includes in-depth training on general equipment maintenance, sanding multiple flooring types/species, unfinished/factory-finished, engineered/multidirectional/parquet flooring. Also includes floor flattening methods, minimizing the scratch patterns and efficient use of the professional sanding equipment. On the finishing side, the attendee will learn about and practice with stain application, sealers, natural oils, waxes, colorants, reactive conditioners, finish application, scraping, recoats and final coat application, repairs, and board replacement.   • November 12-13: Multi-Disc/Planetary Sanding | Middle TN Lumber – Clarksville, TN. A two-day in person instructional course on using multi-disc and planetary sanders. Learn how fine finish sanding can reduce cross grain scratching, provide floors with an impressive finish result, and earn you more money on the job.   • November 13: Webinar Wednesday with Spring Creek Flooring – Webinar. This webinar will discuss the virtues of unfinished flooring. We will list the unique values of unfinished and discuss how to sell unfinished to a consumer that is distracted by many different options. Register.
  • November 14: Wood Floor Repairs | Middle TN Lumber – Clarksville, TN. A one-day in-person course providing an introduction to advanced level repair work on finished floors, injection repairs, board replacements, factory-finished repairs, color matching, color theory, scratch and gouge repair, grain replacement, and collecting payment for the job.   • November 19: Tech Talk Tuesday with Bostik – Webinar. Join Brett Miller and Jake Stadler as they discuss the industry’s latest offerings in moisture vapor mitigation and sound abatement for hardwood flooring systems. Gain insight about how to determine if you need a moisture vapor mitigation solution for individual projects and how to best approach it with today’s products and applications. Also, acoustical quality of life is expected by those living in high-end, multi-unit, metropolitan, living spaces.
