Last week, the Hardwood Federation hosted the 2024 Fly-In to discuss the important federal issues that impact the industry. The event concluded on Thursday with a breakfast reception for Democratic members of Congress who have supported the industry over the past few years. This followed a very busy Wednesday with more than 100 meetings in Capitol Hill House and Senate Offices and an evening reception and dinner with members of Congress from the Republican side of the aisle.
The Hardwood Federation says the timing was excellent this year as the House Agriculture Committee begins mark up of proposed Farm Bill legislation last week. Members of the committee definitely heard from fly-in participants about key initiatives in the Farm Bill that will help the industry and must be maintained as the process moves forward.
More than 60 hardwood industry leaders went to D.C. to advocate for the industry. The Hardwood Federation team appreciates their efforts. Look for an in-depth recap of the event later this week in the Hardwood Federationās D.C. Cheat Sheet.
