In a unique collaboration, Peachey Hardwood Flooring, a nationwide manufacturer, teamed up with Textures Flooring of Nashville, Tennessee, to create a standout wood floor for Southall, a luxury resort nestled in nearby Franklin. The goal of this project was to infuse the dining dĆ©cor with elements that are “natural, raw, and authentic,” resulting in a uniquely immersive ambiance.

The task for Peachey Hardwood Flooring was to fashion engineered reclaimed oak planks into a blend of 5ā€ by 24ā€ chevron pattern and a 4ā€ by 24ā€ herringbone pattern. The original face of the wood was maintained, thereby preserving its unique texture and patina, including elements like worm holes, nail holes, and saw marks.

This authentic flooring decorates areas such as the dining hall, hallways, and a lounge area. By using the original face of the reclaimed wood, the unique traits and tales each plank tells through its natural blemishes are preserved, reflecting their rich past.

Installation involved a range of different laying styles, with each room featuring its own unique design. From classic plank flooring and bespoke herringbone to an on-site, hand-carved multi-quadrant chevron pattern, the flexibility and malleability of Peacheyā€™s products provided the installers with the ability to manipulate the wood to meet their exact requirements and demonstrate their skills and creativity.

Finishing this reclaimed oak flooring involved an intricate process that included a UV line application. The process featured four coats of finish, and a thorough UV curing process. This approach produced a surface that intensifies the personality of the reclaimed wood and exudes an ageless charm in tune with the resortā€™s aesthetic.

This Wood Floor of the Year winner exemplifies the remarkable outcomes that can be realized when manufacturers, designers, and installers collaborate using reclaimed wood. The result is a resort experience that mirrors the natural allure of the outdoors.
