What’s Happening at NWFA: April Edition

Are you looking to get more involved in the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA)? Would you like to brush up your skills via an online class or in-person training? Below is a snapshot of some of the opportunities available from the NWFA in April 2023.

  • April 4 – 6: Intermediate Sand and Finish + CP Testing | Pro Flooring LLC – Tukwila, WA. This three-day course includes in-depth training on general equipment maintenance, sanding multiple flooring types/species, unfinished/factory finished, engineered/multidirectional/parquet flooring. Also includes floor flattening methods, minimizing the scratch patterns, and efficient use of the professional sanding equipment. On the finishing side, the attendee will learn about and practice with stain application, sealers, natural oils, waxes, colorants, reactive conditioners, finish application, scraping, recoats and final coat application, repairs, and board replacement.   • April 11-13: Intermediate Sand and Finish + CP Testing I Basic Coatings – Bowling Green, OH. This three-day course includes in-depth training on general equipment maintenance, sanding multiple flooring types/species, unfinished/factory finished, engineered/multidirectional/parquet flooring. Also includes floor flattening methods, minimizing the scratch patterns and efficient use of the professional sanding equipment. On the finishing side, the attendee will learn about and practice with stain application, sealers, natural oils, waxes, colorants, reactive conditioners, finish application, scraping, recoats and final coat application, repairs, and board replacement.   • April 11-14: Advanced Installation I City Floor Supply – King of Prussia, PA. A four-day course designed for experienced wood flooring professionals. Learn a variety of techniques for creating, designing, installing, and developing unique patterns and designs with solid, engineered, unfinished and factory finished wood floors. Learning covers different specialty skills based on student and instructor input. May include introduction to designing parquetry, cutting marquetry, wood bending, and designing with circles/curves.   • April 12: NWFA Webinar Wednesday: Why Are Water-Based Stains Trending for Hardwood Flooring Professionals? Hear from the Basic Coatings team about the advantages to using water/oil hybrid stains versus traditional solvent-based stains for hardwood flooring, whether you are contractor, distributor, or specifier. Register now.
  • April 12: NWFA Expo Room Block Deadline. Attend the NWFA Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 2-4, 2023. NWFA has negotiated a number of reduced-rate hotel rooms within walking distance from the Wisconsin Center. Accommodations will be reserved using the Expo registration and housing system. Expo registration is required prior to reserving your accommodations and the Expo hotel room block will close at 5:00 p.m. EDT on April 12.   • April 27: Hardwood Floors Magazine’s Product Theater Thursday: Välinge/Bjelin. Join Lennart Thålin and Zach Adams to learn about Woodura® and Bjelin hardened wood flooring.
