One thing I found that really saves us time and effort on refinishing existing floors is that, on end walls, instead of edging the whole 5-6″ left by the big machine, we will run a pass across the grain, then run a planetary machine around the perimeter with a combination of good quality medium and fine grit paper. This will leave a 1-1/2″ section next to the wall, reducing the edging by 60 to 80 percent.
