WHAT MAKES THIS FLOOR UNIQUE:
This floor was initially submitted in the Best Parquet/Inlay Application category. The pattern was laid out on the subfloor. Four inch white oak was straight laid with trowel glue and stapled everywhere except in pattern lines. Pattern lines were transferred to the top of wood then track sawed out.
A multi-tool was used to cut out near walls. Both sides were routed for grooves and slip tongue was added to one side. The bottom of the groove was removed from the walnut then inlaid into the pattern. Pin nails were face nailed where needed. The walnut that is cut at intersections is continued on the opposite side. After sanding, the floor was finished with a water-based finish.
