IWF Kicks off this Week in Atlanta

The International Woodworking Fair (IWF) 2018 kicks off this week on August 22-25, 2018. IWF is a biannual event andĀ takes place every two years at the Georgia World Congress Center located in Atlanta, Georgia.

Organizers cite the show as one of the top woodworking trade show in the world for the furniture manufacturing, architectural woodwork, custom and general woodworking industries. IWF 2016 marked the third consecutive show that had growths in both exhibits and attendees with a total of 27,260 in attendance. This show hosted 1,079 Exhibitors and housed 532,565 net square feet of exhibit space.

This year, organizers have said that IWF will have more than 1,025 exhibitors occupying nearly 1 million square feet. More than 210 companies will be exhibiting for the first time at IWF.Ā The 2018 edition will be the largest since 2008, and attendance expected by show organizers will be more than 30,000.

NWFA’s Brett Miller, Vice President of Education & Certification at the NWFA will be presenting at the IWF Wood Flooring Symposium on Tuesday, August 21.Ā During the first segment of his presentation, Miller will discuss common problems, causes, andĀ cures in the world of wood flooring, showing examples of several common issues and then taking aĀ deeper look into the causes and cures and how to avoid each one.

During the second segment of his presentation, Miller will present the finishes of wood floors,Ā including a look at some of the differences between wood flooring finishes being used in the past asĀ compared to the newer finishes used today.

The final segment will focus on the many benefits of choosing wood in the flooring world. Miller willĀ touch on wood-look products, wood flooring trends, and responsible sourcing of wood. TheĀ presentation will end with an open discussion about ways the industry should promote woodĀ products to the consumer.
