Smith Brothers Floors, in Calgary, Alberta, is hosting a celebratory event at their showroom, Thursday, June 28 from 12-5pm to commemorate 100 years in business. The company was founded in 1918 by Charles Smith, grandfather of present owner, Paul Smith.
In the late 1950s, having worked for the company for nearly 20 years, Charles’ sons, Roy and Bob, took over the business. By the 1960s, they had a crew of 29 installers and finishers working on hundreds of homes a year, as well as an office and warehouse facility, where the company has operated from since.
In the 1980s, the third generation of Smith’s were getting more involved in the business. Roy’s son, Paul, joined the family enterprise along with Kent Archer, the husband of Paul’s sister, Melodie. Paul and Kent have since taken over the business, staying true to the same principles that the company was first built on, honesty and integrity.
