I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas yesterday. I doubt many will read this blog today–hopefully most of you aren’t even at work!
I’m spending this week reviewing the year—updating SOPs, reviewing all the projects and activities of the year and looking for holes in the system that need to be plugged. Next week, with the New Year, I’ll try to look forward at all the events and things to come, but this week is doing the report card for the year.
When I lived in Japan, Christmas was a commercial event. The big holiday is New Year’s. On the last work day of the year, we usually only spent a few hours of business work and then the entire rest of the day was spent cleaning. It was a deep cleaning—all nooks and crannies from lightbulbs to baseboards. It is very important to enter the new year as clean as you can be.
I don’t think I’ll get my house clean, but I’m going to work hard to get the year wrapped up properly. And then start fresh next week.
All my best to you in this holiday season.
Have a wonderful New Year Elizabeth.
Thank you Elizabeth, your knowledge and perspective in our business is always insightful. Have a Happy 2018.
