Horizon Forest Products is dedicated to giving back to the community through corporate and employee involvement. This has been a cornerstone of the business since it was founded in 1992. Recently, an employee at Horizon Forest Products provided assistance in a way that warrants special recognition.
Hurricane Harvey caused massive flooding and devastation in Texas. In the immediate aftermath of the storm, many people were left stranded. That’s when Warehouse Team Member Gerson Pereira sprang into action to rescue those in need. He rode a jet ski into flooded neighborhoods to pick up stranded people and bring them to safety.
“We are extremely proud of Gerson,” said Alan Blake, Houston Branch Leader at Horizon Forest Products. His actions exemplify the values our company holds dear. He is always looking to see what needs to be done, whether it’s helping out flood victims or loading trucks for customers.”
People in Texas are relying on each other for help in this time of trouble, and Gerson was glad to help. “It was about taking care of people and doing the right thing,” he said. “We worked together as a community and everybody did their part.”
The team at Horizon Forest Products feels fortunate to have Gerson on board. “I can’t imagine the warehouse without him” said Blake. “Our business wouldn’t be the same. Without being asked, he went above and beyond. It was truly amazing.”
