Horizon Forest Products recently supported an event to raise funds for autism education in the local community. The T&T Bowl-a-Thon for Autism is an annual event designed to promote awareness and raise money for the autism class at Rolesville High School. Through this class, students engage in a variety of enrichment activities to learn important life skills. The money raised at the Bowl-a-Thon directly supports the growing need to fund essential classroom technology, field trips, and supplies for the school year.
The demand for autism classes is increasing every year, but schools are not receiving any additional funding to support this need. The purpose of this event is to move toward closing that gap. Last year, the event organizers along with T&T Creative, donated $750 and two new iPads to the Rolesville High School autism class. This year, the event was even more successful. By matching the funds raised by Horizon and other local businesses, T&T Creative was able to donate $3,000 and four new iPads to the growing Rolesville High School autism class. T&T Creative hopes to expand the event in the coming years to assist all of the schools in Wake and Johnston counties.
Staff members at Horizon Forest Products engaged in supporting activities, which included participation in the Bowl-a-Thon. The employees who attended felt privileged to help local students in need.
