The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) proudly took a leading role in the annual Hardwood Fly-In to Washington, D.C., held from May 13-15, 2025, showcasing our dedication to advocating for the U.S. hardwood industry. Representing NWFA were staff members Stephanie Owen and Anita Howard, alongside Board Members Steven Skutelsky, Dan Gorsenger, Jesse Joyce, and Dan Natkin, and NWFA Emerging Leaders Council member Lawrence Skutelsky, NWFA Government Relations Committee member Elizabeth Baldwin, and longtime NWFA member Bill Joyce of Middle Tennessee Lumber.
Organized by the Hardwood Federation, the Fly-In provided a critical platform for NWFA to educate members of Congress about the challenges and opportunities facing the hardwood sector. With the second Trump Administration moving swiftly on policies impacting trade, tariffs, and regulations, NWFAās presence ensured the hardwood industryās priorities were heard loud and clear. Key discussions focused on the effects of trade policies and tariffs on our sector, restoring vital tax cuts for hardwood businesses, and addressing regulatory and transportation challenges.
NWFAās involvement underscored the power of direct advocacy. By sharing real-world insights from our members, we strengthened relationships with elected officials and highlighted how their decisions impact hardwood businesses and employees nationwide. The Fly-In also fostered valuable networking among industry peers, uniting us in delivering a consistent message to policymakers.
As a trade association, NWFA remains dedicated to supporting our members by navigating the complexities of federal policy, allowing you to focus on your business. We encourage all members to join us at future Fly-Ins to tell your story and help shape policies that bolster the hardwood industry.
