Metropolitan Staple/Tech Fastening has changed its name to Corus Fastening. Owned by the same family since 1969, the company says it wanted to update its brand name to better reflect its values and distinctiveness.
Howard Kastner, president of Corus, explained, “We have outgrown our previous name. ‘Tech Fastening’ is easy to understand, but it’s not distinctive as a brand name, and it doesn’t express all the care and hard work we put into our products. Furthermore, as our business has successfully expanded over the past 60 years, we no longer feel the same connection to the name ‘Tech.’”
The new name, Corus, is derived from the words “core” and “chorus.” The company says that “core” suggests strength, which relates to the company’s tools and fasteners. But “core” also comes from the Latin word for heart. Kastner stated, “We are people who work with heart. The word ‘chorus’ adds the idea of harmony and voices in unison. This expresses how we work together with our manufacturing partners, with each other, and most importantly, with our customers.”
Besides the new name, Corus is shifting to a new look for its tools and fasteners. Kastner added, “Working closely with our customers is the best part of our job, and we look forward to forging ahead by their side under our new name.”
