Basic Coatings Seeking Vice President of Sales and General Manager

The Vice President of Sales & General Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, profitability, and market share in the Basic Coatings business. This leader oversees sales, marketing, and operational execution, ensuring alignment of strategy with marketplace opportunities. The VP/GM will lead cross-functional teams, manage key customer relationships, and develop innovative go-to-market strategies across hardwood distribution channels, gym floor contractors, and new business verticals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: other duties may be assigned as needed.

Sales & Marketing Leadership
• Develop and execute a comprehensive marketplace strategy for all Basic Coatings product lines.
• Lead and manage the sales force to achieve aggressive growth targets while maintaining strong margins.
• Partner with marketing to implement lead generation, branding campaigns, and promotional activities.
• Ensure customer feedback and competitive intelligence, to improve product development and positioning.

General Management & Operations
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and sales projections for all Basic Coatings product lines.
• Oversee CRM utilization, ensuring accurate pipeline management, competitive activity tracking, and customer insights.
• Collaborate with operations, product management, and customer service to optimize performance and service delivery.

Business Development
• Drive new product penetration and ensure successful program launches into existing and new markets.
• Prospect, qualify, and secure new distributor and end-user accounts to expand reach and profitability.
• Establish strong brand presence by building and maintaining relationships with distributors, contractors, and industry influencers.

People Leadership
• Recruit, develop, and retain top sales talent.
• Provide coaching, training, and career development opportunities for direct reports.
• Foster a culture of accountability, performance, and integrity across teams.

EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
• 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in sales, marketing, or general management, ideally within building materials, coatings, or floor care industries.
• Proven success managing multi-channel sales strategies, including distributor, contractor, and end-user relationships.
• Strong track record of delivering revenue growth, market expansion, and operational excellence.

REQUIRED SKILLS
• MS Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to learn CRM software
• Someone familiar with selling building material products through distribution is critical.
• Person must be mechanical in nature, technical, with great selling skills.
• Flooring business experience.
