Cummings Lumber Company Damaged by Fire

According to a statement from the Bradford County Department of Public Safety, crews were dispatched to a fire at Cummings Lumber Company just before midnight on June 25. The hardwood flooring manufacturer is located in Troy, Pennsylvania. The Department of Public Safety stated: “During suppression efforts, crews were faced with an exploding oil tank which resulted in a partial roof collapse,” but added that the fire was out after 5:00 a.m. and there were no injuries in the fire.

In a social media post, Cummings Lumber stated: “All of us at Cummings Lumber Company are truly moved by the outpouring from our local community about our recent mill fire. Thank you just doesn’t seem like enough to everyone who has helped us during this difficult time. We have received so many kind messages, phone calls, texts, food, coffee, etc. It has just been overwhelming. And most importantly thank you so much to all of the volunteer firefighters & first responders! There were 17 fire departments involved to help extinguish the fire. We are forever grateful to you for being so relentless, selfless & putting your own lives in danger to help others. You guys are beyond heroes! Thank you!”

Cummings Lumber is a fourth-generation family business, founded in 1929 as L.W. Cummings & Son Lumber Company.
