AkzoNobel Shares 2021 Color of the Year at 2020 High Point Fall Market

Wood manufacturers and designers attending the extended Fall 2020 International Home Furnishings Market in High Point will see the latest color trends shaping the furniture market from experts in AkzoNobel’s Global Color and Design Studio for Wood Coatings.

At the event, the AkzoNobel team will be showcasing the company’s 2021 Color of the Year – Brave Ground, which is a warm and grounding neutral shade. According to AkzoNobel, “Brave Ground can stand strong on its own or help other colors to shine. Given the unprecedented events this year, our trends research tells us that people want to feel ground beneath their feet and have the courage to embrace change. People are inspired to express themselves and make new connections from the past to the future.”

“The annual trend research we do with leading design professionals has applications across our paints and coatings businesses,” said David Menko, AkzoNobel’s chief marketing officer. “Our design teams use these insights to develop on-trend, market-specific colors and finishes for our decorative paints, architecture, aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics and wood coatings customers.”

The theme is featured in four complimentary color palettes: Expressive (standout shades of pinks and reds balanced with soft neutrals), Trust (neutral grays and browns), Timeless (shades of yellow and ochre tones) and Earth (a mix of blues, greens and browns).

The company says its Color of the Year influences a variety of markets, including consumers and specifiers, aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, furniture, domestic appliances, cabinetry, flooring and building product producers and the architecture industry.
