Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association (MFMA) honors those members, past and present, who have made a lasting impact on the maple flooring industry.
Rick has been a part of the MFMA for over 40 years. His contributions to the industry can be summed up in one phrase: “What are we doing to our kids?” Rick has always been a staunch advocate to continue the push for safer floors for the athletes.
In 1996, Rick moved to Kiefer Specialty Flooring to help launch their wood flooring division. His mission was simple: to teach owners that the performance of a floor system was the single most important part of the selection process. Rick is the epitome of a consultative sales professional. He continues today to assist in the industry while also teaching the next generation about the merits of the MFMA and Northern Hardwood Maple in the Sports Floor Industry.
Gene Wengert is President of The Wood Doctor’s Rx LLC, Bishop, GA, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
As a former professor and extension specialist at Virginia Tech and researcher at the US Forest Products Lab, Gene teaches over 30 practical wood processing classes and seminars a year for the wood products industry, including sawing, edging, grading, drying, machining and gluing.
Gene is the author of eight practical books and has published over 400 articles relating to the wood products industry. Gene’s teachings and writings have assisted many wood product manufacturers, inspectors and consumers over the decades.
