MODA Floors & Interiors and Agape Partner on Bedroom Makeover Project

For the eighth consecutive year, MODA Floors & Interiors and Agape Youth and Family Center, a non-profit organization, continued their “Extreme Bedroom Makeover” partnership. MODA team members remodeled a bedroom for five children in the Bolton Road community in Northwest Atlanta.

Team members painted, installed new flooring and accessorized the room with window coverings, comforters, pillows and wall decals that reflected the children’s preferences and interests. “When we interviewed the children, each of them said ‘red’ was their favorite color. The girls wanted flowers, and the little boy is a soccer fan,” said MODA’s Theresa Minkoff.

“This is a highlight for us each year,” said Dean Howell, president of MODA Floors & Interiors, a floor and window coverings resource with showrooms in the West Midtown Design District and Town Brookhaven.

Since its conception in 2010, the Extreme Bedroom Makeover project has provided new spaces for 179 children. In addition to MODA, sponsored volunteer teams included Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church, the Arby’s Foundation, the Junior League of Atlanta, Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, the National Charity League and Traci Rhoads Interiors.

Agape Youth and Family Center serves a community that includes more than 2,000 school-age children from under-served families. The center provides afterschool programs and family services that focus on academic achievement, character development, reading proficiency by third grade, high school graduation and post-graduation planning and placement.
