Artistic Finishes was specifically recognized for their adoption of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs, which helped the company bounce back after the recession.
The newspaper profiled 10 Minnesota companies that offer lessons that businesses of all sizes can learn from. The small businesses featured have succeeded by seeing—seeing opportunities others missed or ignored, seeing when a tried-and-true business model has grown tired.
